From Family Cajetani descends Pope Boniface VIII, famous for the proclamation of the first Jubilee in 1300, and for the outrageous “Slap”, made by Sciarra Colonna. The main entrance of the restaurant opens, in fact, onto the square dedicated to the Pontifex. During the centuries the building has been frequently modified, restored and, lastly, defaced by the Sack of Landsknechts in 1556. After the next restauration in 1628, the property took the current architectonical aspect, as shown by another engraving in the hall of the building.
